Church of Saint John the Baptist

Ein Kerim. About 7 miles west of Jerusalem according to tradition is where Elizabeth who was Mary’s cousin lived. This is the church of John the Baptist and tradition states was the home of Elizabeth and Zechariah. Although the church is a Crusader church there was a 5th century chapel marking the place.

Now the time came for Elizabeth to be delivered, and she gave birth to a son. And her neighbors and kinsfolk heard that the Lord had shown great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her. ~Luke 1:57-58
