Prelude Sunday at 11:00: Listen Sweet Dove by Grayson Ives (1593-1633)

Listen sweet Dove unto my song,
And spread thy golden wings in me;
Hatching my tender heart so long,
Till it get wing, and flie away with thee.

Such glorious gifts thou didst bestow,
That th’ earth did like a heav’n appeare;
The starres were coming down to know
If they might mend their wages, and serve here.

The sunne, which once did shine alone,
Hung down his head, and wisht for night,
When he beheld twelve sunnes for one
Going about the world, and giving light.

Lord, though we change, thou art the same;
The same sweet God of love and light:
Restore this day, for thy great name,
Unto his ancient and miraculous right.

Prelude Sunday at 11:00: This Is the Record of John Grayston Ives (1948 – )

This is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him: Who art thou? And he confessed and denied not, and said plainly: I am not the Christ.

And they asked him: What art thou then? Art thou Elias? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered no.

Then said they unto him: What art thou? That we may give an answer unto to them that sent us. What say’st thou of thy self? And he said, I am the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord.

Prelude Sunday at 11:00: ‘What Are These That Are Arrayed in White Robes?’ John Stainer (1840-1901)

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
What are theses that are arrayed in white robes, and whence came they?
These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in His temple.
They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore: neither shall the sun shine on them, nor any heat.
For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them,
and lead them unto living fountains of waters:
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Prelude Sunday at 11:00: O How Amiable R. Vaughan Williams (1872-1958)

O how amiable are thy dwellings:  O Lord of hosts!
My soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord:
My heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God.
Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house,
and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young:
even thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house:
They will alway be praising thee.
The glorious Majesty of the Lord our God be upon us:
prosper thou the work of our hands upon us.
O prosper thou our handywork.
O God, our help in ages past,
Our help for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home.
